Water Quality (CCR) - Consumer Confidence Report

Water sample testing

West Sound Utility District's drinking water system is classified by the State of Washington Department of Health as a "Group A" system.  The District Corporate Boundaries encompass approximately 9.4 square miles, while its Retail Service Area is approximately 15.1 square miles in size.

The District system is comprised of 17 wells in total, although two of the wells have been drilled but not developed, and two others are emergency sources that have been offline and physically disconnected from the distribution system since 2006.  Production from these wells totaled 651,249,000 gallons in 2021.  The system also has six reservoirs with a total of approximately 4.1 million gallons of storage. As of the 2021 Water Facilities Inventory report, the system has 6,285 service connections.

West Sound Utility District (District) staff treat the water with chlorine and fluoride.  The water is regularly tested 365 days a year throughout the distribution system to ensure that these additives remain at safe and effective levels for our customers.  All employees treating the water and operating the system are State Certified for competency and receive regular training to maintain certification.

Distributed water is rigorously tested for a wide variety of potential contaminants.  Samples are routinely taken and analyzed within the system.  Analyses includes Nitrates, Disinfection Byproducts, Synthetic Organics, Volatile Organics, Inorganics, Lead, Copper, Radionuclides Herbicides, Pesticides, Unregulated Contaminants and other Regulated Contaminants.  The District water quality meets or exceeds the high compliance standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Washington State Department of Health for drinking water.  For more information, please review the latest Water Quality Consumer Confidence Report below.
